How exciting! I am dreading the start of Kindergarten in a week and a half. I am so nervous, my stomach turns just thinking about it. I am trying to be excited for him and very supportive! Where does time go?
I don't know where the time goes. It seems like yesterday that she was starting Kindergarten. At least I don't cry anymore on the first day of school :)
My daughter goes to a year-round school. So she gets several 3 week breaks spread throughout the school year. We could opt-out if we want, but we really like it!
that is an interesting school schedule. is it just being tried in your area? i have heard of this talked about as a possible alternative but it is never taken to a vote.
There are only 3 schools in our district that offer this schedule and they are considered magnet schools. This school is our neighborhood school, but we can opt-out and send her to the next school over if we wanted. More and more states are trying this schedule in an effort to decrease the amount of review that has to take place at the beginning of each school year.
There are benefits and drawbacks. We like to be able to take vacations at different times of the year (Disneyland in October is really nice!) but my daughter misses out on some of the local summer programs that happen when she's in school.
All things considered, we like it and will continue it as long as we can.
